About Amira
Amira Yanni, LPC, MA
Licensed Professional Counselor
I’m an individual therapist for teletherapy clients in DC and VA. I use both talk therapy and EMDR therapy to help you reach your goals. I earned my Master’s in Counseling in 2021 and have four years of clinical experience seeing clients and helping them deal with issues such as: anxiety, trauma, grief, self esteem issues, life transitions, communication, and setting boundaries.
I am a Christian and employ an integrated approach to counseling for those wanting to work with a Christian counselor. As a third culture kid, I approach clients with a multicultural lens.
In naming my practice, Peaceful Rivers Counseling, I leaned on a children’s song declaring peace like a river. There are several reasons behind this, one being that I use inner child work in my clinical practice, and another due to the imagery that can arise due to this name. Rivers are able to be changed and redirected, similar to how humans can adapt and be transformed. Rivers flow and move forward, which I hope will be your experience when you enter into this counseling journey. Rivers invoke a sense of calm and peace, and I hope this counseling practice can help you find safety and security leading to this peace. So often cities are founded next to a source of water, so in thinking about this practice, I hope it can be a good launching pad for you in connecting to yourself and continuing on with resources and tools to help you going forward.
